BARRY W. WILFORD, ESQ.

Barry Wilford graduated from Capital University School of Law and admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1977.  After graduation he served as law clerk for the Hon. Earl E. Stephenson of the Fourth Appellate District of the Ohio Court of Appeals until February, 1979, when he accepted a position on the trial staff of the Franklin County Public Defender office.  From 1982-87, he was assigned to the felony trial unit of that office.  Mr. Wilford entered the private practice of law in September, 1987, associating with luminary criminal defense specialists Gary Schweickart, Esq., Gerald G. Simmons, Esq. and Lewis E. Williams, Esq., and since then has maintained  a private law  practice exclusively devoted to the defense of criminal cases in trials and appeals in all Ohio and federal courts. He has successfully defended criminal defendants in more than one hundred jury trials including numerous death penalty trials. 

 Mr. Wilford is a member of the Bar of the State of Ohio, the Bar of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the Bar of the Sixth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals, and the Bar of the United States United Supreme Court.  He is also a member of the Columbus Bar Association, the Ohio Bar Association, a director of the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a member of the Ohio Corrections Association.  Mr. Wilford is the registered lobbyist for the Ohio Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers, and currently serves as the Immediate Past  President of that organization.
